Levels of Care
Skilled Nursing Facility
Residents of these facilities require 24-hour care and assistance
with regular daily activities, such as bathing, dressing,
taking medication, eating, and more. Skilled nursing and
rehabilitative care are provided. These facilities may be
freestanding or included as part of a Continuing Care Retirement
Community.
Assisted Living Communities
In this community, a resident requires some assistance with
daily activities but does not require constant nursing care.
However, 24-hour supervision is usually provided. A variety
of services and amenities is available. Assisted living
communities have adopted the philosophy of "aging in
place" allowing residents to remain in their apartments
as long as the staff can care for them.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities
These communities can offer a variety of lifestyle options,
including independent living, assisted living, and skilled
nursing. The independent living segment of a CCRC is
often a vibrant, active environment that stresses wellness.
Living arrangements vary, but residents are often able
to enjoy an apartment residence and a high level of freedom.
A long list of amenities and conveniences is typically
provided. Concierge assistance is available to residents
